Got a sub + need some help with CSS

My bro bought me a 3 month subscription so i could try all this stuff out.
I have no idea how to do the CSS stuff to make my journal awesome. I need help =P
just wondering, would anyone be able to show me an easy to follow (for total begginers) tutorial on css so i can just add my own backgrounds and stuff. kinda like this guys journal :iconsaltyshadow:

yay! I've edited my journal. Not exactly what i wanted it to look like, but it's a start, I wanna make a cool one later, but this will do for now. I'd like to thank :iconexilefx: for giving the link with a CSS template :D
